Industrial controllers, instrumentation and gateways combine analog measurement, communication and power switching. A board inside a protected cabinet has different requirements from a field-mounted module. Define service conditions before selecting materials and protective finishes; component availability and controlled changes also matter for repeat orders.
Engineering Review Points
- Power and isolation: identify supply rails, switched loads, working voltages, creepage, clearances and connectors. Review copper distribution and slots against the actual circuit.
- Sensitive functions: distinguish sensor inputs, communication and switching circuits. Review stack-up, return paths and grounding with customer EMC constraints.
- Environment: specify temperature, humidity, contamination, vibration and enclosure. Coating needs defined material, coverage, keep-outs and acceptance criteria.
- Lifecycle and verification: agree approved alternatives, revision control, lot records, programming and test access. Functional fixtures and limits should support reproducible repeat production.
Prepare Your Project Files
Provide fabrication data, stack-up, drawings, BOM, placement files, electrical and environmental requirements. Include programming, functional tests, connectors and coating instructions. State quantities and repeat-order expectations, components that cannot be substituted and who approves changes.
