Aerospace, aviation and unmanned-aircraft electronics combine electrical requirements with demanding mechanical and environmental constraints. Controllers, communication modules and power distribution boards can require different constructions within one platform. Suitability for aircraft or flight-critical use must be established through the customer’s qualification process.
Engineering Review Points
- Mechanical interfaces: define mounting points, connector loads, component support and enclosure clearances. For rigid-flex, supply the installed shape, bend zones and expected movement.
- Temperature and power: identify operating and storage conditions, heat sources, current requirements and the board-to-enclosure thermal interface. Review material properties with the complete cooling method.
- Signal paths: release stack-up, controlled impedance, reference planes, via transitions and RF material requirements. Separate power constraints from high-speed and sensitive analog routing.
- Qualification: agree inspection, electrical tests, material traceability, change approval and prototype acceptance records. Environmental and system qualification require their own test plan and limits.
Prepare Your Project Files
Provide fabrication data, drill files, stack-up, mechanical drawings, operating conditions, acceptance specifications, quantities and target dates. For assembly, add the BOM, placement data and test requirements. Identify customer-controlled materials, processes and approval gates before quotation.
