Consumer electronics balance size, assembly, user interfaces and cost. A wearable sensor, home device and handheld controller can need different interconnect and power strategies. Choose board construction from the enclosure, interfaces and manufacturing requirements of the design.
Engineering Review Points
- Space and interconnects: provide enclosure clearances, connector positions and component height limits. Compare conventional multilayer, HDI and flex only after defining routing needs.
- Flex and wearable design: distinguish installation bending from repeated motion. Define bend radius, copper direction, stiffeners, coverlay and expected cycles.
- Power and interfaces: review battery connections, charging heat, antenna clearances and return paths. State impedance and isolation requirements where applicable.
- Assembly and repeat orders: define panel handling, programming, test fixtures and inspection coverage. Agree component alternatives and revision approval before sourcing.
Prepare Your Project Files
Provide fabrication data, mechanical drawings, BOM, placement files, battery and interface requirements, quantities and delivery targets. Include the assembled shape for flex and any programming or functional-test procedure. Confirm cosmetic and packaging requirements separately.
